My family never passes up a reason to have a party so when my sister suggested a Mad Hatter Tea Party, well we all had to have hats. No hats, no tea party, ’nuff said.
This is Alice’s mini top hat, it went perfect with her little blue dress.
Then there was the white rabbit, as much as he didn’t want to admit it, he still had allegiance to the Queen of Hearts, making sure the roses in his top hat were red.
The Queen has to have her champion, hence the Knave of Hearts, always there to protect that wench! Pardon my cellphone peeking out there, I didn’t notice it when I took the picture, I was trying to keep the hat from rolling forward.
And last, but certainly not least, the Mad Hatter himself, with a top hat much more top hattery than most! We took the pattern of the regular top hat and extended it a few inches for a bit of extra madness. And yes, there’s my cellphone again, Sorry!
I used the mini top hat and steampunk top hat patterns from Chris Hubert. His video instructions and patterns are great and he’s totally funny to boot.
Here is the link to his patterns.
This is the link to his youtube videos, they are totally worth watching just for entertainment!

The recommended material suggested to make the hats is craft foam and it worked really well.
So we used various stuff to decorate our hats, all were painted with acrylic paint except Alice’s mini top hat that was covered in sticky back felt. I love the feathers, especially in mine, I was the white rabbit. We had a blast!
Here are a few printables that I found for some of the decorations for the party. I want to thank these people for their generous free printables!

Anyway, we had a wonderful time. My mom planned it for months, all the decor was top notch. So no one can say we don’t know how to throw a party.
Thanks Y’all! Comments? Questions? I would love to here from you!
